On January 16, Sweden's best athletes and leaders will receive awards for their achievements in 2022. Among the nominees, two profiles can receive double awards.

The pole vault star Armand Duplantis has won everything this year - the indoor WC in Belgrade, the EC in Munich and the WC in Eugene.

In addition, he finished the WC final by improving his own world record to 6.21.

The 23-year-old is nominated for both Male Athlete of the Year and Performance of the Year.

- To set a world record when the WC is decided in Eugene, says Lasse Granqvist about Duplantis and mentions that Ebba Årsjö is among the nominees for the latter category.

- Wow, it is extremely gratifying to see that she is included in the Performance of the Year, says Granqvist and then also pays tribute to Marcus Ericsson's performance in the Indy 500.

Nils van der Poel can also take the double

Nils van der Poel is nominated in the same categories.

The skating phenom, who won double World Cup gold and broke the 5,000m world record in 2021, followed that up by winning both the 5,000m and 10,000m at the Beijing Olympics this year.

In addition, he set a new world record in the 10,000 meters.

He has now ended his skating career.

Three blue-yellow Olympic gold medalists at the Olympic Games in Beijing could be the Female Athlete of the Year.

Sara Hector (alpine), Sandra Näslund (ski cross) and Jonna Sundling (cross-country skiing).

Even Sarah Sjöström, who among other things won two WC gold medals in long track this summer, can receive the award.

- You get results at the Olympic Games and Olympic gold.

And you can't miss Sarah Sjöström, even this time, says Granqvist.

The sports gala is arranged on January 16 in Avicii Arena and broadcast on SVT.
