In Sam Hallam's first match as national team captain for Tre Kronor, André Petersson became the first scorer.

Sweden had just killed off a sending-off when Petersson came off the bench and got a free position - without making any mistakes.

- I wasn't quite ready and jumped out late, then I saw that the puck was in the middle zone and sped up.

I got a neutral and put it there.

It's always fun to score goals, but the most important thing is not whether you score one, two, three goals or none at all.

If you win, you should be happy, says the 32-year-old from Olofström.

Two goals in 40 seconds

Then the clock read 6:06 into the second period, and only 40 seconds later Petersson struck again and led 2-0 on a pass from Pär Lindholm.

This was followed by a 40-minute stoppage due to a hole in the ice, but play eventually resumed.

- We sat down in the dressing room and had a coffee and tried to stay focused if the match was to continue.

I think we managed that decently, but the Czech Republic came out stronger after the break so we needed a few changes to get our legs moving again.

Switzerland awaits on Saturday

The Czech Republic reduced the deficit 34 seconds into the third period, but Tre Kronor's reply came immediately.

This time, too, it was Petersson who struck.

Olle Alsing then established the final score 4-1 in the powerplay.

Next up is Switzerland on Saturday followed by Finland on Sunday.
