Henrik Lundqvist set over 50 club records with the New York Rangers.

He kept more clean sheets than any other Rangers goalkeeper to date and was named Most Valuable Player after nine of his total of 15 seasons with the club.

There were just over 1,000 games in the world's best ice hockey league.

The NHL career began with an almost improbable breakthrough.

It ended with big ruminations for Henrik Lundqvist.

He had as his big goal to never represent any team other than the New York Rangers in the NHL, but in the summer of 2020 he had one year left on his seven-year contract with the Rangers and then he began to understand that the club might want to end the collaboration prematurely.

- Suddenly I was faced with a choice to go to Washington.

A team that you have played against for so many years.

There was a lot that matched what I was looking for in the decision.

I began to see that the dream I had of finishing in New York was not going to be like that, he says and continues:

- It's almost like losing a family member or close friend.

There will be mourning work over it.

It actually was.

There were different steps to go through, but once I got to the stage of gratitude, I just felt 'thank you for everything' and then I could start looking forward.

There were never any games with Washington, Lundqvist became acutely ill and went through a major and difficult heart operation.

On Thursday, November 10, the documentary "Henrik Lundqvist – a hockey saga" premieres on SVT.

SVT Sports' Marie Lehmann has followed Henrik Lundqvist's NHL career from the very beginning and we will see unique and never-before-seen material in the documentary.
