Some time ago, Russia's anti-doping organization Rusada announced that the doping case surrounding the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva should be kept confidential because Valieva was only 15 years old when she was caught for doping.

Wada threatened to take the case away from Rusada unless a verdict in the case came soon, and now Wada is making a move on the matter.

It will be the sports arbitration court, Cas, that gets to make the decision.

“Despite the warning, no progress was made by Rusada.

Therefore, I can confirm that Wada has taken the case directly to Cas," writes Wada chairman Witold Banka on Twitter.

Kamila Valieva gave a positive doping test in connection with the Russian championships in December 2021, which was not discovered until after she led the Russian team to Olympic gold in Beijing in February.

She was suspended but after an appeal process in Cas was allowed to continue competing in the Olympics.

Valieva claimed that she accidentally ingested her grandfather's heart medication containing the banned substance trimetazidine.

Rusada has not suspended her during the doping investigation and Valieva has continued to compete nationally.
