WHAT ARE THE SWEDISH LAWS?

Team Hasselborg is Sweden's team in the women's class.

The well-deserved team has two European Championship golds from 2018 and 2019 and was in the final last year but lost to Scotland.

Team Hasselborg consists of: Anna Hasselborg, Sofia Mabergs, Agnes Knockenhauer and Johanna Heldin.

Reserve Therese Westman.

On the men's side, it will once again be "the world's best team", team Edin but which during the EC will be called team Eriksson.

The reason is that the captain Niklas Edin has a knee injury and has been forced to have surgery and will be out for a while and Oskar Eriksson is therefore stepping in as skipper and captain.

The team has seven European Championship golds, the first already in 2009. Most recently it was European Championship silver after a final loss against Scotland.

Team Eriksson consists of: Oskar Eriksson, Rasmus Wranå, Daniel Magnusson and Christoffer Sundgren.

Reserve Simon Olofsson.

- It is of course a break for both teams not to have their usual line-up, Sara McManus and Niklas Edin are two seasoned world players.

At the same time, we can see that the team's success continues in new constellations, not least team Edin (now led by skip Oskar Eriksson) who is reaping fantastic success in Canada without Niklas, says SVT expert Eva Lund.

HOW LONG HAS THE EC BEEN PLAYED?

The European Curling Championship has been organized since 1975 and it will be the fifth time the European Championship has been decided in Sweden and for the first time in Östersund.

Sweden rarely misses the podium in the European Championships and in terms of gold, Sweden has 33 golds, 21 among the ladies and 12 on the men's side.

When the EC has been decided previously in Sweden (1983, 1994, 2008, 2019), Sweden has both missed the podium and won gold.

Most recently, in 2019 at the European Championships in Helsingborg, it was double gold for Sweden.

WHAT DOES HOME GROUND MEAN FOR THE SWEDISH TEAMS?

- In Sweden, we are good at organizing championships, everything from the practical to fine ice conditions.

That the teams get good conditions means that they can put energy into the right things so that they can perform at their peak.

Then we hope that the crowd in Östersund joins in and creates a fantastic championship atmosphere, to be able to represent your country on home ground is special for the teams of course, says Eva Lund, SVT's expert.

HOW IS IT GOING FOR SWEDEN?

SVT's expert Eva Lund is optimistic.

- I believe in gold for Sweden on both the women's and men's side.

Our two teams are established at the absolute top of the world.

WHO WILL BE SWEDEN'S MAIN OPPONENTS?

- Switzerland is the strongest competitor on the women's side and Scotland on the men's side, according to Eva Lund.
