Kenyan Evans Chebet, already winner of the Boston Marathon last April, won the New York Marathon on Sunday.

He crossed the line in 2 hours 08 minutes and 41 seconds, giving her country a double after the victory of her compatriot Sharon Lokedi in the women's competition.

Evans Chebet, 34, got the better of Ethiopian Shura Kitata to win the New York Marathon on Sunday, 13 seconds ahead of him on the line.

Dutchman Abdi Nageeye, silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics last year, completes the podium.

Chebet took control of the race after the Brazilian Daniel Do Nascimento, who took off like an arrow, ended up collapsing.

He never gave hope to his rivals again.

Untouchable Kenya

The famous race contested on the streets of the Big Apple was the last of the year and crowned Kenya's overwhelming dominance, with its runners achieving a 6/6 in 2022.

Double Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge won in Tokyo (March 6) then Berlin (September 25), Evans Chebet in Boston (April 18) before New York, Amos Kipruto in London (October 2) and Benson Kipruto in Chicago (October 9).

It is the first time a nation has completed the Grand Slam since the World Circuit was expanded to six races, with the addition of the Tokyo Marathon in 2013.
