The final of the All Japan Fencing Championship was held, and in the women's saber individual, Misaki Emura, who won the gold medal for the first time as a Japanese player in this event of the world championship this year, won the championship for the first time in three years.

The All Japan Fencing Championships were held on the 5th in the finals of the men's and women's individual events in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

Of these, in the women's saber, Emura, who won the gold medal at the world championship this year, played against Seri Ozaki, who won the bronze medal at the women's saber team at the world championship.

Emura aggressively attacked and accumulated points from the beginning, winning 15 to 8 and winning the championship for the first time in three years and the third time.

In the men's epee, Nijiki Kano, who won the first gold medal in fencing in Japan at the Tokyo Olympics, played against 38-year-old Keisuke Sakamoto, who won the All Japan Championship four times.

Kano took the lead from the beginning by making use of his speed to score thrusts from a long distance.

In addition, women's epee Yume Kuroki and men's foil Kyota Kawamura both won their first wins.

Kaihi Streets won the men's sabre for the third time in three years, and Sumire Tsuji won the women's foil for the second time in three years.

Emura "I want to accumulate as much experience as possible"

Misaki Emura, who won the women's saber for the first time in three years, said about this tournament, which she faced as a gold medalist at the World Championships, "I felt uncomfortable tension and pressure that I could not lose in the qualifying rounds, but I reorganized my feelings. I wanted to play a match where I could say I gave it my all whether I won or lost."

As for the future, he said, "My ultimate goal is to win individual and team gold medals at the Paris Olympics. I think it will be a challenge to play my own game without being distracted by situations where winning is taken for granted. So, I want to accumulate as much experience as possible,” he said enthusiastically.

Kano: “It was really tough, but I’m glad we won.”

Nijiki Kano, who won the championship for the second year in a row, said, "I didn't think I could make it to the end while widening the point difference. I expected to catch up, but the second half was a difficult development. I wanted to win. I couldn't lose, so it was really tough, but I'm glad I managed to win."
