138 skippers in the running

The itinerary remains the same as in previous editions: after leaving Saint-Malo, the skippers will follow northern Brittany then pass north or south of the Azores to cross the Atlantic Ocean and connect Pointe-à-Pitre, west of Guadeloupe.

Great attraction of the #RDR2022, the 8 @Ultim32_23 offer an incredible line-up that no one would have bet on four years ago and which wants to demonstrate its maturity between Saint-Malo and Pointe-à- Clown.

This year, no less than 138 sailors are in the running, a record.

They are divided into 6 categories belonging either to monohulls (Class40, Imoca, Rhum Mono) or to multihulls (Ultim, Ocean Fifty, Rhum Multi).

The Ultims, the fastest and most powerful boats, are the ones with the best chance of setting the best time.

Favorites to follow

Each category has its favorites.

For the Ultims, Francis Joyon, winner of the last edition and holder of the world record for the race (7 days, 14 hours, 21 minutes), is putting his title back into play. François Gabart, his rival who arrived barely seven minutes later in 2018, will also be present.

Both could however be beaten by Charles Caudrelier on his Maxi Edmond de Rothschild.

For the Imoca, the favorites are Charlie Dalin, Jérémie Beyou and Thomas Ruyant.

Finally, in Class40, Yoann Richomme is aiming for the double after his victory in 2018 in his category.
