Italy was one of the favorites in the team competition at the World Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool.
But the Italians had a difficult start, as the debutant Martina Maggio fell to the floor twice.
At one point she crashed straight into the carpet.
Italy did not recover from the start and ended up fifth.
The USA won the competition.
