When Matilda Vinberg was selected for the September collection and the match against Finland, she was shocked.

Then there was no playing time, but a great experience for the Hammarby player.

She was just as surprised when Peter Gerhardsson got in touch on Monday to call in the midfielder as a replacement for the injured Kosovare Asllani.

- I'm quite humble myself, so I didn't realize it at all.

Maybe it was in my mind, but I didn't think it would happen, says Vinberg.

The 19-year-old has had a nail-biting journey from having played in Division 1 a year ago, to now setting the tone in the Allsvenskan and possibly just days away from getting playing time in the A national team for the first time.

Because she has received indications that she is in to play.

- He (Gerhardsson) has said that there is a reason why I am going along.

I wouldn't go all the way there to not play.

I am very happy that I can go along.

Realistic with the WC

The football World Cup (together with New Zealand) will be decided in Australia next summer.

Thanks to the selections during the autumn, the championship has become a realistic goal for the fast teenager who has a lot of experience from the national youth team.

- It is clear that it is in the mind, it is a realistic goal now that you have been called up again and have received more attention.

If I continue to perform in Hammarby, I think the opportunity is there.

What do you take with you from the previous national team meeting?

- Very much.

Everything from working methods, getting to know new players...you were very nervous, which is natural.

It went much faster, so there are things to take with you which I have done and tried to develop in Hammarby.
