The Japan Badminton Association announced last month that it has returned to the "automatic acceptance clause" that obliges the sports organization to respond to arbitration when a dispute arises between players who left in May last year.

What is the “automatic acceptance clause”?

The "automatic acceptance clause" obliges the sports organization to respond to arbitration by the Japan Sports Arbitration Organization in order to resolve disputes between sports organizations and athletes. In May of last year, it withdrew from this provision in the past two arbitrations, saying that "unfair proceedings were carried out and wrong judgments were shown."

Regarding this, the association's legal counsel responded to an interview after the board of councilors meeting held on the 3rd, saying, "Because of the judgment of the court that disputed the arbitration procedure, it was decided to return to the clause." It has been revealed that it has returned to the "automatic acceptance clause".

In addition, at the board of councilors meeting on the 3rd, it was also reported that chairman Yoshio Sekine and managing director Kinji Zeniya will resign, taking responsibility for a series of scandals such as embezzlement of former employees and fraudulent applications for subsidies.

The association will hold an extraordinary board meeting on the 30th of this month to pass a resolution to elect a new president and managing director.
