SVT broadcasts 32 matches from the football World Cup, is on site with commentators and reporters and reviews the host country Qatar.

But it doesn't end there.

In the reportage series "The big World Cup journey", SVT Sports reporter Johan Kücükaslan visits some of the most current and interesting countries ahead of the championship.

In the program, Johan Kücükaslan follows in the footsteps of some of the biggest football stars.

Everything from Leo Messi's Argentina and Kylian Mbappé's France, to Sadio Mané's Senegal and a knockdown in Canada, the hockey nation that has suddenly become the best in North America.

- We want to take the viewers to the places where some of the world's best players were raised and meet the people who were important to their development and careers.

It is a declaration of love for football as a sport, far away from the big arenas, and a story about the core of football, the supporter culture and the fans' love for their teams, says Johan Kücükaslan.

The reportage series "The great WC journey" is published in four parts on SVT Play starting Sunday 6 November.

In the documentary "The work of death in Qatar", Samir Abu Eid and Salim Alsabbagh, SVT's envoys in the Middle East, travel to Nepal.

There they meet the people who worked to build Qatar up for the World Cup and relatives of guest workers who have died in Qatar.

- Nepal is incredibly poor and the core of the documentary is the vulnerability of the people there.

It was painful to hear them say that they know the risks of working in Qatar but the need is so great that they feel forced to take these jobs in order to send money to their families.

This vulnerability is something that many countries and employers, such as Qatar, take advantage of, says Samir Abu Eid.

Samir Abu Eid and Salim Alsabbagh will also cover the FIFA World Cup on location in Qatar.
