35-year-old defender Gerard Pique, winner of three Champions Leagues with FC Barcelona and the 2010 World Cup and Euro-2012 with Spain, announced his retirement from football on social networks.

He will play his last match against Almeria on Saturday at 9 p.m. at Camp Nou.

In a tweet, Gérard Pique announced that he was retiring.

"Saturday's game will be my last at Camp Nou," he announced in a short video posted on his Twitter account.

"I wanted to tell you that I have decided that the time has come to end this trip," he announced in this film of just over two minutes showing images of him as a little boy, with the Barça jersey or the race for the autographs of the club's stars.

"There will be no other team after Barca," he added.

"I will become one more fan, and I will support the team and I will pass on my love for Barca to my son."

"And sooner or later I'll be back," Pique concluded.

Arrived at Barça at the age of 10, Pique left Catalonia from 2004 to 2008 for the Manchester United Academy, where he won a first Champions League (2008), before returning to the club of his heart. .

Piqué has won eight Spanish league titles, seven Copas del Rey (Spanish Cup) and above all three Champions Leagues, in 2009, 2011 and 2015.

Star in Spain, Pique has also appeared in the "people" pages for having shared the life of the Colombian singer Shakira.

The couple, now separated, had two children.
