Figure skater Mao Asada held a class at a skating rink in Fukuoka City to teach young athletes aiming to reach the top level the importance of basics.

The classroom was attended by 16 figure skaters from elementary school to university who live in the prefecture, and Ms. Mao Asada, who won a silver medal at the Vancouver Olympics, was invited as a lecturer.



First, Ms. Asada taught her how to warm up, which she usually does, and then she instructed her to practice the basics of skating by putting her weight on one leg and drawing a figure 8 on the ice. .

Mr. Asada said, "Everyone listened to me very hard and gave me a lot of power. I hope that what I told everyone will help me in the future."



A first-year high school girl said, "I learned a lot about the basics of figure skating, and it was very stimulating. I want to achieve good results at the Inter-High and the National Athletic Meet."
