Boris Skrynnik has been in the post for 17 years and since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, harsh criticism has been directed, from among others the Finnish and Swedish confederations, against his choosing to remain.

But now he is resigning.

Something that, according to Gustafsson, facilitates the future of bandy.

- Now it's about solving our international business in the best way possible.

In the long term, we want to spend a little more resources on developing international collaborations and helping and strengthening smaller bandy nations, and now we hope that there is a consensus around that, that the new president sees it the same way as we do, says the Swedish Bandy Federation's general secretary Pär Gustafsson to SVT Sport.

The goal is for the WC to be decided later this season.

- We have ambitions for there to be a World Cup this season, details about that are not clear, but there are definitely ambitions to play a World Cup, says Gustafsson.

And then I guess Russia is not welcome as long as the war is going on?

- That is absolutely true, we have been clear about that from the first second and it has not changed.
