Petter Northug has announced that he will make a comeback on cross-country skiing this winter.

The plan was for him to make his first start in the Sjusjöen Super Criterium, which is part of the Ski Classics long-distance cup, on November 12, but now comes word that the pre-season race has been cancelled.

The reason: the mild autumn weather.

- Unfortunately, the abnormal weather temperatures in southern Norway make it impossible to produce artificial snow, which does not mean that the event cannot be carried out in the way we want.

The plan is to run a pre-season race next winter, but right now we are focusing on the start of season XIV of Ski Classics with the start of the competition in Bad Gastein, Austria, December 10-11, says Ski Classics CEO David Nilsson to langd.se.
