Moa Lundgren told about the disease in a post on her Instagram.

When SVT Sport reaches her on Friday evening, she clarifies the messy situation.

- I came home from Mallorca last week and was quite strong, then it happened at the weekend.

I have had a high fever and a lot of pain in my stomach and down to my appendix.

So when I got to the hospital, they thought I needed to have my appendix removed, says Moa Lundgren.

But after the operation was carried out on Tuesday, it turned out that it was not appendicitis.

- I got something called glandular abdomen, but it is most common in children under 12, so it was nothing the doctors thought I had.

But these are exactly the same symptoms as appendicitis.

So I didn't have to remove the appendix and the glandular abdomen will heal on its own.

But it's the procedure itself that stops me from skiing for three weeks.

So it's a bit messy.

“Very shocked that it all happened”

Despite the fact that it was an incorrect assessment by the doctors that means that Moa Lundgren cannot train before the season, she feels no anger towards them.

- I really understand that they did that, because there were several doctors who thought it was appendicitis.

So it still feels okay that it turned out the way it did, based on what information they received.

But I am very shocked that everything happened, she says, adding:

- It feels like it just became a soup of everything and everything was very much beyond my own control.

It has flowed so well this training summer and year.

Aiming to compete in December

Moa Lundgren says that she has been very low on energy and slept a lot since the operation on Tuesday.

But right now she has her sights set on making her season debut before Christmas.

- I checked and saw that it is the Scandinavian Cup here in Östersund 16-18 December, it is a good benchmark and a nice competition.

My coach Lars was very good at showing me that it is a long season and a way to reach one's goals, even if there is now a change.
