With ten minutes left in the first half of Friday's international match against the Czech Republic, Linn Hansson was substituted, and thus made his debut in the A national team.

- It was really cool, really.

Something you only dreamed about, says Hansson.

At the end of the match, the first national team goal also came when Hansson caught a long pass and was not easily able to bounce into a position from the edge

- The ball just came straight over so I didn't know which way to turn, but it turned out well anyway.

Took a break of nine months

The 25-year-old has never before played an international match for a Swedish national team.

In addition, she quit handball four years ago and took a nine-month break, so that she would reach the A national team was far from obvious.

- When you were little, it was always the dream to be in the national team, but then those thoughts have definitely been put on ice for many years and you have felt that it was very far away.

Especially when I quit and came back.

But in recent years it has flowed on and it is clear that the idea has grown, but I still did not believe this.

Why did you choose to take a break?

- I went from Sävehof to Heid and got benched a lot.

Finally, the spark for handball disappeared and then I felt I needed a break.

"Hard to hold back the tears"

When the assistant coach in Heid called and wanted her back, she made a comeback.

- It was still sad that it would end like that.

Then a new coach came to Hedi and I gained trust, and since then things have flown.

Sweden beat the Czech Republic 36-20.

After the final whistle, Hansson went straight to the family who were there in Kalmar.

- It was mother, father, their respective, sister, grandfather and my extra-grandmother.

It becomes extra sensitive because they have been with the whole journey.

So when you get to meet them there, it was hard to hold back the tears.

Sweden meets the Czech Republic again on Sunday, and the match is broadcast on SVT.
