Since group games were introduced in CL 1992, a total of 22 Swedish teams have made it to the group games in one of the European cups.

13 recorded points is shared best by Swedish teams, +5 in goal difference and 11 goals scored are the best results Swedish teams have had.

Then there still remains the home match against group winners Shamrock Rovers.

- It is important to put the Swedish teams on the map, that more people play continuously.

Then Sweden as a country gets better conditions, more people can participate and we get a higher ranking.

For Djurgården, it's historic and it's clear that as sports manager, you're proud and happy, says Bosse Andersson when SVT reaches him the morning after the victory.

"Exceeds expectations like hell"

Only five times in 22 attempts have Swedish teams progressed from the group stage in Europe.

IFK Göteborg's game in the Champions League 94/95 gave the most echo when they won the group ahead of Barcelona and Manchester United.

The CL is also clearly higher ranked than the third tournament Conference League, on the other hand there was only one team per nation in the CL at the time.

In recent years, it has been Östersund and Malmö twice that have progressed from the group in the Europa League, but they still did not reach the same points yield as Djurgården now.

- We were focused on making a really good European Cup game.

There, we exceed the expectations by all means, says Bosse Andersson to SVT.

In the picture above, you can see SVT's compilation of the Swedish teams that have played on clay in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup/Europa League, Europa Conference League and the ladies' Champions League.

On the women's side, group games have only been held since last season, which is why the basis is thin there despite Swedish success in Europe.

*The three Swedish teams (Rosengård, Malmö, Djurgården) who are playing in the group stage right now all have matches left to play.
