For Germany's darts professional Martin Schindler, the home European Championship has already ended.

The 26-year-old from Strausberg lost 6-1 to Portugal's world-class player José de Sousa in Dortmund on Friday evening and once again missed out on making it into the top 16 of the tournament.

The year 2022 had previously been excellent for Schindler, and in the coming weeks it is also about a seeding list for the World Cup in England from December 15th.

In the round of 16 on Saturday evening (from 8 p.m.) de Sousa will face the winner of the game between Michael van Gerwen from the Netherlands and Chris Dobey from England.

The tournament in Dortmund is endowed with 500,000 pounds (equivalent to 58,000 euros) and lasts until Sunday.

After the World Cup in London, it is considered one of the most important events of the year.

Max Hopp achieved the best German performance so far in 2018 by reaching the semi-finals.
