Football is one of the sports fields that witness great cooperation between the UAE and Egypt, after the UAE hosted the Egyptian Super Cup four times previously, while the UAE Super was held in Egypt twice.

The two Egyptian football poles, Al-Ahly and Zamalek, meet again in the Super Cup today, at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.

Today, the Egyptian football summit will be held for the fifth time in the Emirates, after the two traditional rivals played three previous times, which saw Zamalek win on two occasions against one victory for Al-Ahly, while “Al-Ahmar” played with Al-Masry Al-Portsaidi in a fourth edition, during which Al-Ahly won the title.

The great success achieved by the UAE hosting more than one copy of the Egyptian Super Cup, starting in 2015, contributed to Egypt becoming a destination for the Emirati Super as well, and the distinguished historical relations between the two countries continue at the sporting level.

A great success achieved by the two UAE Super editions after their stay in Egypt in 2016 and 2018.

Egypt began hosting the Emirati Super for the first time in 2016, as it was the first time that the match was held outside the borders of the country, in light of the spirit of brotherhood between Egypt and the Emirates, leadership and people.

Cairo was awarded the right to host another edition of the UAE Super Cup in 2018, continuing the remarkable organizational success.

The UAE Super Cup was held for the first time in Egypt when Shabab Al-Ahly and Al-Jazira met on September 13, 2016, at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo. The meeting witnessed a large crowd, and Shabab Al-Ahly won the title 2-1.

In the second edition of the competition held in Egypt, Al Wahda defeated Al Ain in a marathon match on penalties, after a 3-3 draw.

As for the Egyptian Super in the Emirates, it witnessed Al-Ahly’s victory over Zamalek 3-2 in the 2015 edition, then Zamalek over Al-Ahly on penalties in 2016, and Al-Ahly’s victory over Al-Masry with a goal without a response in 2018, and in the last edition of 2020, it was Zamalek who crowned the title at the expense of Al-Ahly on penalties after a goalless draw in the match.

It is expected that the Zamalek and Al-Ahly summit today will witness a large public presence.

Four copies of the Egyptian Super Cup were held in the UAE in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2020, while two copies of the UAE Super Cup were held in Egypt in 2016 and 2018.
