Last week, the Russian anti-doping organization, Rusada, announced that the doping case surrounding Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva will be kept confidential.

That worries the International Anti-Doping Organization, Wada, which now wants a verdict to come as soon as possible.

Otherwise, Wada threatens to take the case, which is handled by Rusada, to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Cas.

"Wada is concerned about the continued delay in processing Kamila Valieva's case and has given Rusada a formal notice that if the matter is not resolved soon, it will use the right to take it directly to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas)," writes Wada chairman Witold Banka on Twitter.

Kamila Valieva was said to have accidentally ingested trimetazidine through a relative's heart medication ahead of the Beijing Olympics, which was revealed during the Winter Games earlier this year.

Rusada refers to the figure skater's status as a "protected person".

This status applied to Valieva, as she was under the age of 16 when she submitted a positive doping test.
