In Chinese Xinxiang, Swedish star Truls Möregårdh, ranked third in the world, won 3–1 in a set against Brazilian Hugo Calderano.

The 20-year-old opened with two clear set wins, 11–5 and 11–6.

In the third set, the brass mastered Möregårdh's serve better - and could more easily get into position at the table.

Calderano took home the set with 12–10 and reduced to 2–1.

Then it was a weak start in the next for Möregårdh.

Calderano gained 6–2 and 9–5 leads, but then the Swede managed to turn around.

Möregårdh won the next six balls, where he decided on the first match point directly in Calderano's serve.

3–1 in the set to Möregårdh, who advances to the quarter-finals of the world tour final.

"Just going to enjoy"

- It was the first time I met him, there weren't that many duels but mostly serve and return games, says Truls Möregårdh after the victory.

Chinese world number seven Wang Chuqin, who he recently lost to the world tour competition in Macao, awaits in the quarterfinals.

- He has all the pressure on him, I just want to have fun in front of this fantastic audience.

I'm just going to enjoy the game.

The quarter-finals will be decided tomorrow, Friday, at 14:20 Swedish time.
