For a long time it has been fixed that the national team will meet Mexico in Girona, Spain, on November 16.

The idea was initially to play a second away match a few days later in Marseille, but the French authorities said no, citing security issues.

Le Havre was considered as a new venue, but in the end the international match ends up at home.

And then it was never an option to play at the national arena Friends Arena in Stockholm.

National team manager Stefan Pettersson explains why:

- Horses jump at Friends, says Stefan Pettersson to Fotbollskanalen.

Namely, it is the Sweden International Horse Show from November 24 to 27 at the arena.

- We have known that the horses will be there.

It has never been relevant to watch it (games on Friends, ed. note).

As I said, we actually had everything verbally ready this summer to play in France.

But it can be fun to play somewhere else, says Stefan Pettersson.
