Referee returns to manage English Premier League matches 4 years after his dismissal

Referee Bobby Madley will officiate a Premier League match for the first time in four years on Saturday after losing his job over a controversial video clip in 2018. Madley was sacked four years ago after he sent a friend a video mocking a disabled person.

He returned to English football in 2020, where he managed matches in the lower divisions, as well as 10 matches in the Second Division this season.

Madley, 37, will officiate at Brentford's home match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to the list of referees for next weekend's matches published by the Premier League website.

Madley's brother Andy, who is also a referee, will take charge of Brighton & Hove Albion's home game against Chelsea on the same day.
