Chelsea, Dortmund, Benfica and Saint-Germain qualified for the second round of the Champions League

The teams of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica joined the ranks of the qualifiers for the second round (the round of 16) of the European Football Championship, through their results today, Tuesday, in the penultimate fifth round of the group stage matches of the tournament.

Milan and Leipzig also revived their chances of qualifying for the second round by winning both of them today.

The goalless draw with its guest Manchester City today was enough for Dortmund to reserve his seat in the second round of the tournament, regardless of the result of his last match in the group against Copenhagen of Denmark.

Dortmund raised his score to 8 points in second place, 3 points behind Manchester City, who secured early qualification before this round, but today's draw ensured him staying at the top of his group thanks to the difference in the direct confrontation with Dortmund, where he had previously defeated the German team in the first leg.

Sevilla raised its score to 5 points in third place in Group G, after its great 3-0 victory over Copenhagen in the other match in the group, but Dortmund's superiority in the direct confrontation gave Dortmund the second qualification card from this group.

In Group F, Leipzig stopped the series of unbeaten consecutive matches for Real Madrid this season and defeated the defending champion 3-2 to raise its score to 9 points in second place, one point behind Real Madrid.

Leipzig's match against Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine in the last round became a playoff for the second qualification ticket from this group, after Shakhtar tied with Celtic 1-1 in the second match of the group today.

Real Madrid had booked a seat in the second round before this round.

In Group E, Chelsea qualified by defeating Red Bull Salzburg 2-1, raising its score to 10 points at the top of the group before its last match against Dinamo Zagreb.

Milan revived its chances of qualifying by beating its host Dinamo Zagreb 4-0 to become its last match in the group against Salzburg, a separator for the second qualifying card from this group for the second round.

In Group H, Saint-Germain defeated Maccabi Haifa 7-2 and Benfica defeated Juventus 4-3 to qualify Saint Germain and Benfica officially to the second round, after each of them raised their score to 11 points, compared to 3 points for each of the other two teams in the group.
