After qualifying on Tuesday from Paris SG, Benfica Lisbon, Dortmund and Chelsea, there are only four places left for the European "top 16": Tottenham, AC Milan, Sporting Lisbon and Leipzig are best placed to get them on the last day, next week.

Group A: Liverpool accompanies Naples

In difficulty this season, Liverpool saved themselves some cold sweats by winning with authority (3-0) on the field of Ajax Amsterdam.

This success, acquired thanks to Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott, secures second place for the Reds, qualified for the round of 16 for the 6th consecutive year.

Jürgen Klopp's men still have a slim chance of finishing top, synonymous with seeded status in the draw on November 7, but that will require beating Napoli by a wide margin on Tuesday.

Intractable leader qualified with five wins in five matches, the Italian club impressed again on Wednesday against Glasgow Rangers (3-0).

Group B: Atlético comes out of the gate

In this group B with surprises, Atlético Madrid can bite their fingers after their meeting against Bayer Leverkusen (2-2).

Until the 100th minute, the Colchoneros believed in it, but Yannick Carrasco missed the final penalty which would have kept his club alive in a breathless atmosphere.

But with only five points in five matches, Antoine Griezmann's partners can no longer join Porto (9 pts), let alone Bruges (10 pts), an unlikely leader.

Their only consolation would be third place synonymous with the Europa League, but that will require doing at least as well as the Germans on the final day.

Bruges and Porto will compete for first place at a distance, with a ranking favorable to the Belgians but a dynamic favorable to the Portuguese, winners in Belgium on Wednesday (4-0).

Group C: Barça condemned by Inter

Catalonia was hoping for a miracle, it didn't happen.

Even before starting their meeting against Bayern Munich, Barça knew the bad news, their elimination from the C1 for the second year in a row.

The big victory of Inter Milan at the start of the evening in front of Plzen (4-0) indeed froze the 3rd place of the Catalans, donated to the Europa League after a catastrophic group stage (only one victory).

It is therefore almost logical that the Barcelonans lost again, Wednesday at Camp Nou, before a much more efficient Bayern Munich (3-0) with Sadio Mané, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Benjamin Pavard scorers.

The Bavarians, already qualified before the meeting, will see the 8th for the 13th consecutive year.

They will therefore be accompanied by Inter players in full confidence, who on Wednesday found their imposing striker Romelu Lukaku, back from injury and scorer after only four minutes on the pitch.

Group D: OM will have to win

Eight points for Tottenham, seven for Sporting Lisbon and Frankfurt, six for Marseille … Group D has not given its verdict and the four teams can still qualify on the 6th day.

For OM, after their two European successes against Lisbon, the return to earth was still hard, in Frankfurt, with culpable defensive errors which offered goals to Daichi Kamada and Randal Kolo Muani.

Mattéo Guendouzi also scored a nice goal, in vain.

The Marseillais are now forced to victory at the Vélodrome against Tottenham on Tuesday, to qualify.

With a draw, the Marseillais would keep a chance of going to the Europa League, if Frankfurt beats Sporting.

In this group D, Wednesday evening still gave a small advantage to the English, who were able to equalize against the Portuguese (1-1) and even believed to hold their qualification before seeing a goal from Harry Kane refused by the video assistance in additional time.

A draw will be enough for Londoners in Marseille to experience a spring in C1.
