In order to realize the dream, the Internet will be completely "disconnected" from August

Zhang Zhizhen: The goal of ranking "Break 100" has been hidden in my heart for a long time

By Monday, October 24, the names of players from mainland China will appear for the first time in the list of the world's top 100 players in the newly announced ATP rankings.

Zhang Zhizhen said that this goal has been buried in his heart for a long time.

"I may have this ability before, but I didn't have the ability to continue to play well. Now it's finally a dream come true."

In August of this year, Zhang Zhizhen suddenly announced that he "disconnected from the Internet".

On that day, he deleted his Weibo, giving himself a way out of surfing the Internet and reading news and videos.

On October 23, Zhang Zhizhen has confirmed that his world ranking will come to 97th on October 24, becoming the first male tennis player in mainland China to break through 100.

"Now it seems that breaking the net is a good decision. From the point of view of performance, I want to focus more on myself and focus more on playing."

Zhang Zhizhen's 2022 season is not over yet, and he will participate in a challenge competition next week.

Regarding the current performance, Zhang Zhizhen admitted that it has exceeded expectations.

"I can summarize this season. It's a low start and a high walk. The first half of the year was average, and the more I played after that. I didn't think about being able to rank in the top 100. The previous plan was to rank around 150. The goal of breaking 100, It came a little earlier than I expected." Zhang Zhizhen said.

This season, Zhang Zhizhen spent more time at the tennis base on the Croatian island.

"With this place, I don't have to find a place to rest every month. I have a fixed training base, which is very helpful." Zhang Zhizhen said.

In the 2022 season, Zhang Zhizhen requires that he must go out as soon as possible.

Due to the impact of the epidemic, Zhang Zhizhen had not been able to finish a season smoothly in the previous two years.

"In 2019, I thought about the goal of breaking 100. At that time, I also played very well in the second half of the year. I originally wanted to play well in 2020 and hit the top 100. As a result, the epidemic came, and it was delayed until this year to realize the dream."

For Chinese men's tennis players, breaking the top 100 in the world ranking is the goal of several generations.

For Zhang Zhizhen, who began to emerge in 2017, it is a dream buried in his heart for many years.

Zhang Zhizhen said that some people can achieve their goals quickly when they see their goals; some people need to wander for a long time before they can finally realize their dreams.

Next, Zhang Zhizhen's goal is not to fall out of the top 100, and to play well in the first Australian Open main match.

"In the next winter training, I will increase my physical reserves, strengthen my physical fitness and mobility, and have different requirements for these two aspects. I will also improve the power of my weapons in competitions. I hope to bring a physical fitness teacher back to China and hold a wedding. During the period, I hope I will not give up physical training. If there is no accident, I hope to play a full season like this next year. I will participate in more tours next year, and I hope I will play more tours to score points. I qualified for the Australian Open this year. This is my third Australian Open, having played two qualifiers before, one in the first round and one in the second round. I'm really looking forward to next year's Australian Open."
