Ulf Brömster has been the equestrian association's chairman since 2015, but will now leave his post after the annual general meeting held in May 2023.

- In many ways it has been a fantastic time, with both ups and downs, where the driving force has always been to experience the strength of what we in equestrian sports can achieve together, says Ulf Brömster in a press release.

The Equestrian Federation has received a lot of criticism recently.

Among other things, it has been questioned how the association has handled cases where riders in Swedish equestrian sports have been accused of sexual abuse.

In early September, for example, the International Equestrian Federation, FEI, suspended a Swedish national team rider for two years as the rider allegedly violated the FEI's policy regarding sexual harassment and psychological abuse.

The Swedish Equestrian Federation had by then been aware of the allegations since May of the same year and had opened an investigation, but suspended the rider from the national team only after the FEI's action.

SVT Sport seeks Ulf Brömster for a comment, but learns via the Swedish Equestrian Federation that he is currently flying to Lausanne for a meeting with the FEI.

- He must speak for himself, but as I have understood it, his departure has nothing to do with the criticism that has been.

Without it being more about the time period (that he has been chairman, editor's note) and that this is a good timing to quit, says the association's press officer Katarina Gustafsson.

Sportbladet has also shown in a larger review how young people are exploited in Swedish riding stables.

In their articles, several people with personal experience of the stable testify that abuses, both in labor law and sexual, are common in the sport.
