In the Ski Classics, the long-distance cup, the skiers compete for stables, and not for national teams as in the World Cup.

Norwegian star Johannes Hösflot Kläbo would like to see the cross-country sport renewed, and believes that the introduction of team skating could be a way to go.

- I think that is a good reasoning.

It gives more people the chance to come out and compete, and the best can compete.

Because now there are a lot of people in Norway who don't make it to the World Cup, but who would definitely have placed in the World Cup if they went for another nation, says Lager 157's Emil Persson to SVT Sport.

Kläbo's proposal is appreciated by more than Emil Persson, who came second in Vasaloppet and in Ski Classics last season.

- It is a model that works in cycling and in long runs.

So you can take ideas from there, says Hans Christer Holund, who won the five-mile at the WC 2019.

Ski Classics has its season premiere on December 10 in Bad Gastein, Austria.

The World Cup in skiing starts on 25 November in Ruka.
