The Brazilian player Caio Lucas confirmed that wearing the armband with the Sharjah team motivates him more to give everything he has to get his first title with the "King", noting that the armband is a great responsibility for him in the presence of a large number of stars.

Caio told the Brazilian newspaper, Porto Alegre Journal, that he was happy after he wore the captaincy for the first time with the team. I hope to win my first title with (the king), especially since the team includes a great group of distinguished players.”

He added: “Everyone here has the same desire to win the league title and compete for all championships, as the team wants to regain the league title that it achieved in 2019, while the club’s board of directors did a great job by contracting players with very good potential, most notably the Bosnian Miralem Pjanic. The Brazilian player talked about the role he plays after wearing the armband, and said: "There is no doubt that the armband is a great responsibility, especially with the presence of such a large number of stars, and indeed I have great experience here in the professional league, as I have played with Al Ain since 2016. While I moved to Sharjah in 2020, in general I like to take responsibility and see that I am well prepared for this task.”

Caio Lucas' career began with the Professional League in the 2016-2017 season, as he achieved the League Shield and the President's Cup with Al Ain, then joined the ranks of Sharjah in January 2020 on loan from Portuguese club Benfica for 18 months.

Caio, 28, formed in previous periods, a distinguished trio with former Sharjah players Igor Cornado and Wilton Suarez.

Last season, Caio played 20 league matches out of the 26 matches the team played in the league. The number of minutes played in these matches was 1,651 minutes, and he scored 14 goals and assisted six goals.

In view of the player's brilliance and his appearance at an advanced football level, the Sharjah Football Company announced, last year, the renewal of Caio's contract for three coming seasons until 2024, as part of the club's plan to maintain distinguished players who serve the club's goals in the search for excellence, achievements, titles and victories in Various competitions and tournaments.
