Cristiano Ronaldo has had a difficult start to the season and started again on the bench.

But Anthony Martial's early injury opened the way for the Portuguese, who thanked him in the best possible way for the trust.

The minute before the break, he broke free and scored United's winning goal, 2-1.

It was Ronaldo's first goal of the season in the Premier League - but above all he celebrated the 700th club goal of his career.

The 37-year-old's outstanding goal record for the clubs he played senior football for:

  • 144 for Manchester United (two trips).

  • 101 for Juventus.

  • 450 for Real Madrid.

  • 5 for Sporting Lisbon.

After the match, Ronaldo was praised by teammate Victor Nilsson Lindelöf.

- It is difficult to say anything about it.

That's amazing and that number speaks for itself.

I'm happy for him and hope he can help us and score more goals in the future, says Nilsson Lindelöf.

The Swedish defender made his first start of the season.

- It felt good.

Obviously very happy that we got three points with us.

It's a very tough away game and we had a game on Thursday so it was important to be able to recover well.

We got three points and that's the most important thing.

Everton took the lead after just five minutes, but United responded with two straight goals in the first half.

- Obviously not a good result for us, but I think we sometimes play very good football, especially in the first half.

We also react well by scoring two goals, says Nilsson Lindelöf.
