Arnaud Démare leaves for a Tours!

The sprinter from the Groupama-FDJ team offered himself Paris-Tours on Sunday, a race he had already won last year, at the end of a route which included vineyard paths.

Led by his teammate Stefan Küng (the vice-world champion of the time trial, excuse the little), the Picard finished the job perfectly in the sprint, resisting the return of the Belgian Edward Theuns and the Irishman Sam Bennett, who complete the podium.

Four French people make it into the final top 10 since apart from Démare, Sandy Dujardin (7th), Matis Louvel (8th) and Hugo Hofstetter (10th) have taken a place of honor.

Failing to play for victory, the Walloon Philippe Gilbert offered himself the ultimate pleasure by lining up for an event of which he was winner in 2008 and 2009. The 40-year-old runner was competing here in the very last race of his huge career.
