It was shortly after 10pm on Sunday evening that the police received information that a woman in her 20s had been raped in Stockholm.

A few hours later, more precisely at 03:08, the suspect was arrested and on Monday morning Djurgården IF issued a press release revealing that the suspect belongs to their men's soccer team.

No later than tomorrow at 12.00, the prosecutor Frida Vedin must decide whether she will request him to be detained or not.

Something the plaintiff's lawyer Nikola Pejic is counting on.

"Based on the state of the evidence and the seriousness of the crime, it is our firm opinion that the suspect will be requested to be detained.

Out of respect for the police investigation and the plaintiff, I cannot make any further comments," writes Pejic in a text message to SVT Sport.

Via his defense lawyer Olle Kristhammar, the player has said that he denies the crime.

- He denies crime.

Then I can't say much more at this point.

The investigation is still in an early and sensitive stage, Kristhammar told SVT Sport on Tuesday.
