For this second part of the 3rd day of the Champions League, the logic of the favorite was respected on the majority of the fields.

Decryption of the main matches of Wednesday evening.

In Group F, Real Madrid made up for it at the expense of Shakhtar Donetsk (2-1) and thus consolidated its first place in Group F. With the help of a Karim Benzema finally back in the queen of European competitions , the people of Madrid pierced the Ukrainian curtain twice in the first period: first by Rodrygo (13th), then by Vinicius, who concluded a magnificent three-way action with his two attacking friends (28th).

But as Real Madrid wandered around, Oleksander Zubkov popped up, like a warning: just before the break (39th).

In this same group F, RB Leipzig revived after two defeats by winning 3 goals to 1 at home against Celtic Glasgow.

With this first victory, the German club (3 pts) goes third behind Shakhtar Donetsk (2nd, 4 pts), beaten 2-1 on the lawn of Real Madrid (1st, 9 pts).

Celtic are bottom of the group with just one point.

Julen Lopetegui sacked

It's one defeat too many: Julen Lopetegui was sacked as Sevilla FC coach after another 4-1 defeat at home to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

His future was already up in the air before this new disappointment.

But some supporters, however, applauded him at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium, believing the club's management to be more responsible for the club's bad run.

In the Champions League, Sevilla are 3rd in Group G, with only one point and two defeats.

Sevilla FC thanked him on their official Twitter account.

As a reminder, he had won the Europa League with the club during the 2019-2020 season.

Also in this group G, the ogre Manchester City, put into orbit by the inevitable Erling Haaland, took a big step towards the knockout stages of the Champions League, thanks to its success against Copenhagen 5-0.

This third victory for City in as many C1 days still owes a lot to its 22-year-old Norwegian star, who scored twice in the first half hour before being spared by Pep Guardiola in the second period.

Group E revived

Chelsea got the victory (3-0) they were hoping for against AC Milan, with Wesley Fofana scoring, but then injured, in a fully revived group E.

After Salzburg's victory earlier in the evening against Zagreb (1-0), the Austrians are first with five points, ahead of the Blues who have four, like the Rossoneri, and Zagreb have 3. It was already almost a double or nothing match for the Londoners and their coach Graham Potter, against the very disappointing Italian champions.
