Recently, the Austrian triathlon duo Sara Vilic and Tanja Strohschneider trained for the Asia Triathlon Cup in Aqaba, Jordan.

And they were looking for a quieter place next to the public bathing area.

- Suddenly ten guys were there and insulted us.

Some other triathletes were already changing, and we noticed that they didn't like women in swimsuits, Sara Vilic, who participated in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016, told Kronen Zeitung.

She and the compatriot began to swim, and the situation at the beach worsened.

- Then they surrounded us, there were 30 guys there in the end.

And they suddenly threw stones and it became serious and really dangerous.

A large stone missed my head, one hit Tanja in the back.

"Could have ended badly"

The Austrians chose to stay in the water, where they felt safer and could then swim away.

- We had more luck than sense.

Tanja only has one bruise.

It could have ended badly.

Everything was normal there otherwise, apart from the foreign culture, especially towards women.

The next day they were able to compete in the triathlon race, and Valic finished third and Strohschneider finished fifth.

According to the human rights organization Human Rights Watch, among other things, women in Jordan cannot travel abroad with their children, as men can, without permission from their child's father or male guardian or a judge.
