The General Assembly of the International Federation of Sports Press recommended the Italian Gianni Merloa as president for a new term, and the Secretary-General and the Financial Director retained by acclamation their position for the next four years.

On the other hand, colleague Abdullah Ibrahim, President of the Sports Media Association, was chosen to chair one of the important and new committees of the Asian Federation of Sports Press, which is the Conference and Membership Committee, in the elections that were held in Rome.

Abdullah Ibrahim extended his thanks to the new executive office of the Asian Sports Press Federation for trusting him in the field of sports journalism in particular, and sports media in general, by naming him head of this new committee.

He said in a press statement: "We ask success in serving our press."

The meeting saw the decision to form 3 new committees: the Young Reporters Training Committee headed by Subodh Mala Barua (India) and the Marketing Committee headed by Asian President Heidun Jong (Korea).
