The Swedish and Norwegian federations share the view that Russia and Belarus should not be invited to Fis meetings.

But when Norway therefore chose to protest by not attending, Sweden took the opposite decision.

- We think it is wrong that Russian leaders were present.

We think that you should have the same attitude as with active people who are not allowed to compete.

That is our opinion, but unfortunately we have not really come that far within Fis, says Karin Mattsson and continues to explain why they went anyway:

- We have said that if this issue becomes relevant, it is important that we present our opinion.

I had contact with Norway and they have chosen not to go there.

But we think we should be there and present our opinion.

Has your opinion been presented on the spot there?

- It has done that.

In some cases informally then of course.

I think it has been important that we have been there and been able to say that.

Opposing Russian athletes

Among others, International Olympic Committee chairman Thomas Bach and representatives from Fis have in recent weeks opened up to allowing some Russian athletes to compete again.

Karin Mattsson opposes it.

- We think it is the wrong time to start discussing it at all.

We think the development is going in the wrong direction.

There is no indication that it is better.

There is no reason to start discussing when Russian and Belarusian athletes will participate again right now, she says.

She does not believe that it will happen within the International Ski Federation.

- The information we have now received is that the issue will not be on the agenda at the end of October.

Right now, we assume that the question will not come up again for quite some time.
