The dedication sumo tournament at Meiji Jingu, which had been canceled due to the spread of the new coronavirus, was held at the Kokugikan in Ryogoku, Tokyo for the first time in three years.

This tournament started in 1925 and was canceled for the second year in a row due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, but this year it was held for the first time in three years.

In the morning, Yokozuna Terunofuji entered the dedication ring at Meiji Jingu Shrine.

Terunofuji was absent from last month's autumn tournament due to injuries to both knees, but on the 3rd he performed a ``Shiranui type'' dohyo entry with Nishikifuji as Tsuyubari and Midorifuji as sword holder, and dropped his waist. From the state, he spread his hands wide to the left and right and showed a rise that raises his body.

After that, a tournament match between makuuchi sumo wrestlers was held at the Kokugikan, and the final was a match between Sekiwake Toyoshiryu and Hiramaku no Akio in the same room.

When Hoshoryu scored his first victory with a dynamic kote throw, the audience gave him a big round of applause.

The winner, Hoshoryu, said with a smile, "It's my first tournament in three years, so I put my heart into it and did my best. I work with Meisho Seki every day in the rehearsal hall, but I'm happy to win."
