Max Peter Bejmer's race grew with each interval and when the Swede crossed the finish line, he had acquired a lead of a full 1 minute and 24 seconds over the closely placed Simon Imark.

- There is a real ruckus going on, stated SVT's commentator Jacob Hård.

Immediately after the finish line, Bejmer collapsed on the ground, but at the same time stretched his hands to the sky and screamed with satisfaction.

In the background, confederation captain Anneli Östberg was heard singing along to the song of joy.

Nothing could stop the experienced Hubmann

But there was no roar of victory.

Veteran Daniel Hubmann was slightly sharper in the Swiss home terrain and sprinted to the finish line 31 seconds ahead of his Swedish competitor.

Despite this, second place is IFK Gothenburg runner Max Peter Bejmer's best individual result at international level in his career so far.

previously, he has a fifth place from the sprint WC 2022 as his main merit.

- He is something of a late bloomer.

Turns 30 this year and joined the national team as late as 25, 26 years old.

He has had a slightly more crooked path to the top and has, among other things, studied in the USA where he invested in running at the college level, says SVT's expert commentator Mats Troeng.

No blue-yellow advance favorite among the top five

This year's winner of the overall World Cup, the Norwegian Kasper Harlem Fosser finished in third place, who was 48 seconds behind the victorious Hubmann.

For the Swedish runners at the top of the VC total, it was a tough end to the season in Davos.

Martin Regborn (second place overall) finished in 11th place in today's competition, Gustav Bergman (third place overall) in 18th place and Emil Svensk (fourth overall) in seventh place.
