Despite the fact that HV71 is a newcomer to the SHL, the team received the most gold tips at the traditional pre-season meeting.

But the team has had a tough start to the season, and in today's Smålands derby against Oskarshamn came the team's fourth loss in the first six games.

Oskarshamn won 5–4 after extra time, and HV71 remains without a single three-pointer this season.

- It is clear that we are looking for a three-pointer and need a three-pointer, says coach Tommy Samuelsson in C More.

Tedenby injured after tackle

And as if the loss, which means that HV is now second last in the table, wasn't enough, the team's star signing Mattias Tedenby went out already in the third minute of the match.

He was tackled by Oskarshamns defender Willian Worge Kreü and limped precariously as he stepped off the ice.

After that, there were no more games.

- He is not playable anymore today, said HV coach Tommy Samuelsson to C More during the period break, without elaborating on what was wrong with Tedenby.

Three quick IKO goals in the second

Despite the loss, HV71 must still be fairly satisfied that they got a point from the match.

After three goals in six minutes at the beginning of the second period, the guests led 4–2.

But HV came back, and took the match to extra time where Patrik Karlkvist in the power play put a well-placed shot in the crossbar past an obscured Joni Ortio in the HV box.

- It's such an insanely good screen in front of the goal, and I kind of lob it in, says Karlkvist to C More.
