Anger against the Iranian regime continues after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, and demonstrations have been held around the world.

Amini died when she was arrested by Iran's morality police - accused of wearing her hijab the wrong way.

Iranian women are not allowed to go to football

Now the international football association, Fifa, has also received demands due to the situation in the country.

This is when the organization Open Stadiums, which works to ensure that Iranian women avoid discrimination and have the right to visit football stadiums, has written a letter to Fifa's chairman Gianni Infantino.

There they emphasize precisely that, that despite international pressure, the Iranian authorities continue to refuse women to go to matches, and demand that Fifa stop Iran from participating in the World Cup that will be played in Qatar in November and December.

"Why should FIFA give the Iranian state and its representatives a place on the global stage, when they not only refuse to respect basic human rights and dignity, but also torture and kill its own people," they ask.

The news agency Reuters has sought both Fifa and the Iranian Football Association for a comment, but has not received a response.
