Formula 1 extends partnership with British Sky until 2029

The Formula 1 World Championship announced today that it has renewed its media partnership contract to broadcast its races with the Shekai television network in Britain, Ireland, Germany and Italy.

The championship said in a statement that Sky Britain and Ireland "will remain the exclusive rights holders of Formula 1" until 2029, while Sky Germany and Italy will retain their privileged rights to broadcast the championship's races until 2027.

"This new agreement with Sky Network reflects our long-standing partnership and shared ambition to bring Formula 1 to new audiences and markets," said Ian Holmes, who is in charge of media rights for Formula One.

Formula 21 said that the viewership of Formula 1 in the UK in 2022 was 1.7 million, up 60 percent from when the exclusive partnership contract was concluded in 2019.

The viewership rate in Italy reached 1.5 million, an increase of 20% from last season, while the viewership rate in Germany increased by 24% from 2021, while half of the viewers were under 35 years old.
