Inter suffers huge financial losses in the 2022 season

Italian club Inter announced today that it has recorded massive losses of 140 million euros ($133.9 million) for the 2021-2022 season, a clear decline in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The losses, which Inter said were due to the continuation of the pandemic-related restrictions in the first half of last season, were about 105 million euros less than the record losses in the previous season, which was badly affected by the Corona virus.

Revenue also increased by 75 million euros from the previous season to 439.6 million euros.

The 2021 champion said that if the end of the 2019-20 season (which lasted until the following fiscal year after the pandemic swept Europe) is not taken into account, the revenue increase would amount to 140 million euros.

Inter added in a statement that Chinese owner Suning Group had "formally expressed its commitment to support the club" by covering the losses.

"The club's two primary goals remain firmly established: to maintain the team's competitiveness at the highest level in each competition and to strengthen its financial position," the statement added.

Last Friday, Serie A rival Juventus announced a record loss of 254.3 million euros, a steady rise for the fifth year in a row.
