Spain snatched a place in the European Nations League semi-finals, after striker Alvaro Morata scored a 1-0 victory over hosts Portugal on Tuesday, ensuring the winner topped Group B in the first level, which also saw the Swiss team beat the Czechs 2-1.

Portugal dominated the match, but Spain remained in the atmosphere of the match, and Dani Carvajal sent a long ball into the penalty area in the 88th minute, to be headed by Nico Williams to Morata, who shot it into the net to silence most of the fans in the stadium, which was filled to the brim.

Spain topped Group B with 11 points from 6 matches, one point ahead of second-placed Portugal, who only needed a draw to secure a place in the semi-finals.

The Spaniards joined Croatia, Italy and the Netherlands in the Nations League semi-finals next year.
