Jordan Quartet Tournament: Host crowned champion

The Jordanian national team was crowned champion of the friendly four-way tournament on Monday, after its victory in the final match against the Omani team 1-0, while the Iraqi team ranked third at the expense of Syria with the same result.

At Amman International Stadium, Ihsan Haddad scored Jordan's only goal from a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.

Jordan qualified for the final match by defeating Syria 2-0, while Oman qualified by beating Iraq 4-3 on penalties after the original time ended in a 1-1 draw.

The defensive caution of the two teams appeared at the beginning of the first half, in which the real opportunities were absent, with the exception of Mahmoud Marada’s shot that touched the crossbar (13), and another shot from a distance by Musa Al-Tamari over the crossbar (22), in response to a creeping shot from Jamil Al-Yahmadi caught by the Jordanian goalkeeper Yazid. The Omani team almost equalized from a cross that passed in front of the goal and missed the head of substitute Essam Al-Subhi (80).

In the match for the third and fourth places, Ayman Hussein scored Iraq's goal in the 26th minute, after Iraqi goalkeeper Jalal Hassan sent a long ball past the defenders and reached Hussein, who faced the goal and hit the ball hard to the left of the goalkeeper (27).
