Sara Hector and her partner have in recent years built their own house in Duved outside Åre, but now the house has been sold and Hector has packed his skis and moved down to Au, a small village in Austria.

- I obviously spend a lot of time in the Alps because it is in the Alps that we train the majority of the time and we definitely compete in the majority of the competitions there, says Sara Hector.

All trips to and from the Alps are something that took a lot of energy according to the Olympic gold medalist, especially during the pandemic, the trip between the Alps and Åre never took less than 48 hours and it is that time and energy that she now saves.

Trains a lot by myself

She is not afraid to be alone down there in her training, but she is used to training a lot on her own, even when she lived in Åre where there are more national team skaters.

- In principle, we haven't practiced anything together in Åre during the years I've lived here.

So I have great opportunities to improve my training in Austria as well and I will only live a quarter of an hour away from my serviceman now, instead of having to fix the skis myself, so it will make training easier, says a laughing Sara Hector.
