Former alpine star Aksel Lund Svindal has now started treatment for testicular cancer.

This after he recently felt a change in his body.

“I wasn't sure what it was or if it was anything at all.

I decided to check it out.

I went to a doctor and was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors confirmed what they suspected.

Testicular cancer", writes Aksel Lund Svindal on Instagram.

The 39-year-old, who won two Olympic golds and five World Cup golds during his alpine career, is grateful for the Norwegian healthcare system.

“The last few weeks have been different.

I'm happy to say it's been weeks and not months.

That's thanks to fantastic healthcare, a bit of luck and a good decision," he writes.

Aksel Lund Svindal ended his career after the WC in Åre 2019.
