A legendary doubles team for one last match.
Roger Federer, who declared on September 15 that he would end his career after the Laver Cup, will play his last match with - and not against - Rafael Nadal on the first day of the tennis competition on Friday, announced the organizers Thursday, September 22.
"Being part of this historic moment will be unforgettable for me, I'm super excited," Rafael Nadal said Thursday at a press conference.
The two great rivals of the last fifteen years will be side by side to represent the European team against the American pair, composed of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe, who will represent the World team.
Aged 41, Roger Federer, winner of 20 Grand Slam titles, will play his last match at the O2 Arena in London in the evening before ending one of the most prestigious careers in all sports.
