After several space attacks in English football stadiums, Premier League clubs have agreed on minimum penalties for rule breakers.
Spectators who run onto the pitch or set off pyrotechnics will be banned from top-flight stadiums for at least a year, the Premier League announced after a meeting in London on Wednesday.
If children or young people are involved, the penalty also applies to adults or accompanying persons.
The regulation comes into effect immediately.
The English professional leagues had announced tougher penalties before the start of the season.
Anyone who breaks the rules will be reported to the police, risk a criminal record and, in the worst case, even a prison sentence, as was announced at the time.
At the end of the pre-season in May there had been several storms.
Nottingham Forest fans rushed onto the field after their team qualified for the play-off final for promotion to the Premier League.
A day later, Everton fans stormed the pitch after their team had managed to stay up.
In both cases there were clashes with representatives of the opposing team.
